Hey Folks. Welcome to iBusinesstoday.com. For today’s post which will be my very first post here, It will be all about creating your first website online. This could be your very first website, or it could be where you’ve tried before and want to try again. Kind of like myself actually as there has been a few bumps down the road for me definitely.
I think I’m here to stay this time though, as things couldn’t be any more straightforward. The number of times I’ve tried to build a website in the past and failed but think I’m finally understanding.
I’ve actually been in the internet business for 10 years+ now I would say. There have been many attempts I have made at creating a website but this has mainly been beside my eBay and Amazon PC Cooling business. I’ve actually I think probably missed out on a ton of opportunities over the years.
Truth be told the platform I’m using now Wealthy Affiliate I wish I could have found out about a lot sooner. I don’t want to sound too biased here but this is something I definitely recommend. Why? I will discuss very soon.

1.) Introduction – Getting Started
First things first you will need 2 essential things for creating your first website – both a domain and hosting. This is the first hurdle unless you want to try something free like Wix or Blogger, but this I do not recommend
What I want is for you to get set up in the best possible way. Wix and Blogger are all good but compared to what I will discuss below they simply aren’t as good. Also, I want to teach you a few things that could potentially save you a bit of time in the long run. Will do this after you are all set up. To begin with though about Domain and Hosting.
2.) How to Get a Domain and Hosting?
About this Wealthy Affiliate the no. #1 reason I’d recommend is that once you sign up for your free account they give you the opportunity to build two free websites with their SiteBuilder platform. These sites are then hosted on their server and they also give you a domain through a website called Siterubix.
The costs of this above I will be 100% straight with you about. Wealthy Affiliate Basic is free, and they give you 2 websites but whilst it is free the websites have to keep the Siterubix.com extension. The other thing is you can’t add plugins to WordPress. WordPress is my recommended website builder but more about that soon.
The better option is to pay $19 within the first week for Wealthy Affiliate Premium (1st month) and $14.99 through Wealthy Affiliate Site Domains for your full domain for the first year. You don’t have to do this, you can keep the Siterubix extension but ultimately it is better to have your own domain.
The catch here though I want to make perfectly clear is it is usually $49.99 a month for Wealthy Affiliate. So definitely advice that you commit to the $19 for Premium within the first 7 days, to get this deal.
Then if you want to before the first month is finished you can maybe transfer your domain and hosting away. If you don’t want to pay the $49.99 for the 2nd month that is of course, but it’s likely once you’ve joined you will be quite happy with this. It does seem like a lot but once you see what a good platform Wealthy Affiliate is you will most likely want to stay.
3.) What if you Don’t Want to Use WA?
This is fully understandable I don’t really want to go into too much detail here but I still want to help you.
Here is how you can set up a website without Wealthy Affiliate.
1.) Buy your domain – suggestion GoDaddy.com, NameCheap.com or Hostgator I believe you can buy from as well.
2.) Buy your hosting package – try BlueHost
3.) Create an account with WordPress and add your domain and hosting.
I will say though straight away here is the kicker doing it this way. For the sake of saving $45 a month you are missing out on the first-class training that Wealthy Affiliate provides, and if you want to get ranked online you will need to learn about SEO and Keywords. Furthermore, WA provides within your package membership to a Keyword Research tool called Jaaxy.
This alone is usually $19 a month for the premium package. So $25 you will save altogether. Then there are the other things – there is a writing tool on WA called SiteContent where you can transfer your content to WordPress with after.
This I personally love because it automatically saves everything you write, and the amount of time of lost writing on WordPress only for it to malfunction and not save does not even bear thinking about.
What’s more, you can use the Jaaxy Keyword research tool actually alongside SiteContent very efficiently without even leaving WA. Also, there is a search bar in the add image section where you can add copyright-free images from Pexels and Unsplash.
This is important because adding images to your content not only improves the look of your site but you can also add keywords to images. Something I will write about in this post.
4.) Set up your Website – Here’s How
Once you have got a WordPress website before writing your first post there are a few things to consider.
- #1 – Set up a new user in WordPress – make sure people can see your name. Then delete the admin user.
- #3 – Create an email address for your website. For me, as an example, it will be email@example.com
- #4 – Set up a Facebook business page to share your posts on. Also Twitter, Pinterest, and even LinkedIn.
- #5 – Plugins – I would recommend
a.) Yoast SEO, or All-In-One SEO
b.) Monster Insights for Google Analytics
c.) Grow by Mediavine Social Pug or Add To Any Search Buttons (Social Media)
- #6 – Create a Google Analytics Account and also to get Search Console is a good idea as well.
5.) Writing Your First Post on WordPress
Ok, I like to follow certain rules. Try and keep sentences short. Don’t bunch too many sentences together in a paragraph, and split the post into sections of no more than 300 words with subheadings. Also, download Grammarly even the free version is good. Premium is better but free is fine.
Don’t know what I ever did without it. Another tip use line breaks for each section.
The HTML code is hr in brackets, or just click the horizontal line button. I only found this today ?
On WA SiteContent you can find Line Break next to the ‘Add Image” box. Which is another point I’d like to make because I only started doing this lately – when adding image add ‘Alt Text’ and image title. These shouldn’t appear on the page and also acts as an excellent opportunity to improve SEO.
Some quick notes about SEO
SEO is something that might take a bit of getting used to but remember to look up keywords to add into your post through Jaaxy. I would fully recommend taking the training at Wealthy Affiliate for this.
Google ranking especially is very much to do with keywords. Quality written articles are as well, but definitely, keywords are very important. The main SEO keyword phrase which you choose needs to appear in the 1st paragraph of the post.
Take this post, for example, the keyword I’m ranking for is Creating Your First Website.
Notice where I have put this at the top. This should appear at least 5 times throughout the article altogether. Then other keywords can be as the subtitles and then others as long as they fit in with the writing can be good also.
6.) Other Things to Consider
Stick to just one theme what is called a niche. If you want to make a website about health and business together you shouldn’t. Make two websites instead. One for each niche.
Don’t make your content too long either and also definitely not too short. If you are any good at HTML adding a table of contents can really help. It’s very new to me actually but every post I do now I have got to add one to.
Here is a link that you might find useful. How to Add a table of Contents
Then images are important as I’ve mentioned. Emojis if you can figure out how to use definitely brighten things up. Videos as well you can add as the actual files but what I’ll usually do is if you go to Youtube and choose a video click on share and then embed. From this, you should get a code which you can paste into your page HTML.
On Wealthy Affiliate, you can just paste into SiteContent and once the page refreshes it’s there.
The final thing it’s important to make sure your menu navigation is fully set up. One good tip saves a blank page as ‘blog’ in WordPress. If you move this to the first item on your menu it will show your blog roll for all your posts on the first page.
7.) Best Website Monetization Ideas
This is maybe something to come back to after a few posts
My suggestions; 1.) Google Adsense 2.) Affiliate marketing 3.) PPC Ads (Vig Links, Skim Links)
4.) Looking for affiliate programs on search engines. See video;
5.) Finally Amazon Affiliates – Please note you can open different affiliate accounts for different countries. If you create a USA account there is something called Amazon OneLink. Once you are set up you only need to use Amazon USA marketplace links as they will automatically convert.
I hope this explains things well enough. Don’t think I’ve missed too much. You don’t need to do everything at once just remember this. You can always come back and work on posts again later. It is most important to publish content frequently so try and develop a system where you can deliver new content and work on other posts for improvement.
Also, why not delegate a bit if you have the money. Use sites such as Fiverr to hire others that can help you with things like content and graphics?
It is hard work I won’t lie but it’s definitely worth it if done properly. Just think about how many people use the internet and how many opportunities that there are out there just waiting.
As always please like and share. Any way you can help distribute this content is always appreciated. If you would like to leave a comment below then you are most welcome, and any questions I will try and get back to you with an answer as soon as possible.
Look forward to seeing you again!
